SUBWAY MAP REDESIGN

Passion project for the MTA

OVERVIEW

This personal project is an homage to the NYC Transit System, better known as the MTA. This poster is a visual mash-up of the 1972 Subway Map designed by Massimo Vignelli and 2008 Subway Map, designed by Michael Hertz.

CLIENT: Self-Initiated

CONCEPT

Create my own stylized subway map with only 45˚ & 90˚ angles and replace all Helvetica fonts with Trade Gothic Condensed No. 18 & No. 20. Also include the PATH station that run along the MTA in manhattan.

STRATEGY

This piece looks to bridge the modern simplicity of the Vignelli map and the accuracy of the Hertz map. The challenge is to merge both while establishing a purely unique map.
